I doubt we will see him anymore which is unfortunate. In 25 yrs. of watching the Shade I never saw a driver before or since who could run the top of the track better than Justin P. We need him back but sometimes they just fade away and are not heard from again.

That's interesting and has been my observation also. What has changed? banking? Dirt quality? Some of these kids sure want to run up there and are not scared, especially 117 who has a "Paxton devil" in his style. He's great in 1-2 and can't seem to get around 3-4 nearly as well. But the kid loves to go fast up there and is entertaining to watch. Maybe the track crew can tell us what is up.

The best the top ever was goes back to the sprint car days. The sprints used to push up a nice curb at the top it was like putting your right rear up against a rail and then you could let the big dog eat so to speak. Back then only the phony fast went to the bottom. The way the track is now is way better in my opinion. It promotes more side by side racing and faster. I love running door to door with someone you can trust to hold his line. Win or lose after D2D for ten laps, you and everyone watchin is smilin. Thats what its all about. Grin

1 and 2 are still pretty good.  but i think the banking has been lost a little bit on the extreem top shelf though.  steinacker, paxton and babb and those folks that ran up there a few yrs ago i bet wouldn't be as good up there this year.  you can see it if you look accross the track from pit side.  3 and 4 has gone away all together in my opnion. kinda reminds me of when i started out in 97. guys would come of the top and smack the wall frequently.  a few loads of clay in the offseason would be great.  raise it up about 5 feet on the top would be just fine.  Grin Grin
